To meet the growing demand for technical and complex workshops at SMU Libraries’ Scholarship & Research Services, I designed a template that streamlines and standardizes the creation of new workshops. This template is designed to be used by instructors with varying levels of instructional design experience and enables the development of workshops by multidisciplinary content experts, including faculty and IT staff.
The template is based on Essential Questioning and backwards design principles and follows a three-stage learning sequence: Pre-Workshop, Synchronous Learning Session, and Post-Workshop support page. This flexible approach provides a structured and efficient way for instructors to create impactful workshops that meet the needs of their audience.
